About

My name is Anton Partusch. I am a young filmmaker based in Erie, Pennsylvania, currently studying for a film degree at PennWest Edinboro. Ever since I was young, storytelling, especially through film, has been my greatest passion, and I live to create quality entertainment for all to enjoy.

I have experience in film production and writing, as well as photography. I particularly enjoy telling humorous stories and editing clone photography.

My artist statement:

Oftentimes people will turn to art and entertainment to temporarily distract from the struggles of their everyday lives.  All kinds of art exist for all kinds of reasons, and all genres have their rightful places.  Sometimes people turn to art to scare them, intrigue them, and make them think.  Sometimes people, like me, even choose to focus on dramatic art that reminds them of reality, and I have no issue with this whatsoever, but I believe that humor and whimsy are the most important genres.  Whenever I’m feeling down, I turn to humor.  I watch fun videos, read jokes, and usually end up watching a comedy movie.  I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve gone through this ritual, and told myself “I need that” by the time the movie was over.  I completely believe that all people fundamentally need some form of humor to live happy lives, and I feel that it is my calling to bring that humor into others’ lives.

I believe that entertainment is something meant to be taken seriously.  Can certain styles of humor appear overly silly or unsophisticated?  Sure.  Is there anything wrong with that?  I don’t think so.  Sadly no one is perfect, and unfortunately I can’t say honestly that every joke I tell lands, or that every pitch I make works, but the same can be said of any of the greats, for whom I am inspired.  If I write a script, and realize a scene isn’t as entertaining as I initially thought it would be, I immediately rethink it.  Leaving the scene exactly how it is would not benefit anyone, and leave everyone unsatisfied.  That goes completely against all of my goals.

I have experience writing, filming, and editing comedy films, and one of my hopes is that I will continue to build upon this experience.  I’ve mostly specialized in shorter form humor, though I’ve recently been focusing on expanding my abilities on longer scripts.  On top of film, I have a fair amount of experience creating “clone photography,” where I take numerous photos of the same model, producing the whimsical appearance of cloning.  I truly love creating these photos, as they give me a perfect opportunity to tell whimsical stories, and bring people joy in as many ways as I can.  I want to ensure that I am able to competently operate in as many aspects of the field as I can, and I believe I am capable.  I hope that the art I continue to produce will exemplify this.
